People who have succeeded in India's Bollywood film industry have the connections, and the will, to give their children and siblings a boost in the ferociously competitive film world. This has led to the emergence of "film clans" -- families, even entire dynasties, of stars, producers, directors, and other film industry crew. Most film families marry into other families, therefore many of the families are inter-related. Most of these families are joined together by The Ganguly Family, which connects the top heroines together from Aishwarya Rai to Rani Mukherjee to Kajol.

The Kapoor family
Probably one of the oldest families in the industry, the Kapoor family have been in the industry for years since the 1940s. It is mainly Raj Kapoor's descendants that have carried on with the family tradition of acting. Karisma Kapoor was briefly engaged to Abhishek Bachchan the son of Amitabh Bachchan. Amitabh's daughter Shweta is married to Raj Kapoor's grandson.

The Khan-Roshan family
Rakesh Roshan was an actor from the 60s to the 80s. Towards the 90s he started directing films. His brother Rajesh is a Music director and does the music for Rakesh's films. Rakesh introduced his son Hrithik in 2000 in the film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai which made Hrithik a star overnight. Most Bollywood film families marry into other families. The best example is Hrithik Roshan who is married to actor Sanjay Khan's daughter Suzanne Khan. Sanjay Khan's brother is actor and director Feroz Khan. Feroz's son Fardeen Khan and Sanjay's son Zayed Khan are also acting in films.

There family married into the Ganguly brothers. Sashadhar Mukherjee was married to Sati Devi who was the sister of three brothers. The Mukherjee and Samarth family are related through the marriage of Tanuja to the son of Sashadhar Mukherjee.
